These bats are hit and miss. I don't recommend buying these over the internet. Your typical sporting goods store carries this bat and i recommend buying them in person because the quality varies quite a bit. I've been using this model bat for the last 4 summers and I'd say 2 out of the 7 to 10 I've purchased have been duds, breaking after only a couple dozen hits. You'll want to look at the grain and see if it has tight grain. Generally you'll fine one out of group of 4 at the store that has good balance and weight. I even use these bats at the batting cage and if you find a good one it will hold up.

This model bat used to be a very tough and reliable one and took a lot of abuse with regular shots on the handle or off the end before finally cracking. When it would crack, it would split but always remain largely intact. I used to tout how this bat does not hold true to the "you-get-what-you-pay-for" mentality, but not anymore.
The first thing I noticed when I received four of these bats was that they did not have the have the same balance as in previous ones that I've had, and the barrel tapers a lot sooner than it used to, thus reducing the sweet spot significantly. Needless to say, I ended up breaking all four within a matter of weeks (3 or 4) whereas I used to get through an entire season with two. Two of the breaks resulted in the barrel flying off deep into the infield, even when the ball struck on the barrel.
I may try ordering another couple units to see if the ones I ordered were from a bad stock, but I'm afraid that LS has changed the design for this model for the worse.

Comments about Louisville Slugger E. Longoria Ash Wood Baseball Bat:
Ok I wish there were more people that did this...I bought two of these because i thought it would be a great idea cause they were cheap. I taped the handle and I taped the barrel like one is supposed to with ash bats. Little did I know that that is only holding it together. I have marks on the tape showing the placements of my hits in the cage and the bat started to chip under the tape...right on the sweet spot. I really like the balance and the pop, but it does have a small barrel. So no i wouldnt buy this again because i play college baseball and hit with some power, but i would recommend this to a beginner or someone who doesnt hit with power.

I got the one with the Derek Jeter signature. I used this bat for most of my at bats this season. The bat has great pop, great sweet spot, and grips well after a few ABs. Really worth the $$$ Recommend this bat for anyone who needs wood bat. Works great for BP game anything.

Cons

Comments about Louisville Slugger E. Longoria Ash Wood Baseball Bat:
This bat, although not balanced well, provides a great deal of pop. It has a significant sweet spot that allows for solid contact and added power.
The bat is not balanced as well as most bats that I use, but it is still a quality bat, especially considering the price.
I would recommend this as a good buy for anyone that is looking for a bat to use in competitive baseball.

Comments about Louisville Slugger E. Longoria Ash Wood Baseball Bat:
I ordered two of these bats and when they came in one was sturdy and well balanced while the other was poor balanced. The poor balanced one broke in about ten swings in bp while the other one i use in games now and has held up fine.
