Overall this is a great glove - fit, feel, performance, durability, price. No cons based on my exposure thus far.

I purchased this glove for my 7 year old son. His first glove was a 9.5" Rawlings Savage which he used from ages 3-7. Its small size, half leather half suede makeup, and basket web made it a great glove for a beginner learning the game and for tee ball. However, he is now in a machine pitch league with bigger kids and harder balls, so it was time to upgrade. He loves the game, plays a lot, and is good at it, so I wanted to help supply him with a tool that would allow him to continue to develop and flourish as a player.

I did a lot of research, looking far and wide for a solid solution. I'm an ex NCAA player myself, so my searches were thorough and informed. I ended up ordering 4 gloves at once to see which was best, and also to see which he took a liking to. I'm a Rawlings enthusiast, so 3 out of 4 were Rawlings (10", 10.5", 11") and the remaining model was this one (10.75").

This glove stood out for a number of reasons. First, its size is appropriate - not too big to handle but not too small or undersized. It also has smaller finger extensions which suit a child perfectly but can accomodate larger adult fingers as well. Next, the materials blend well together - leather palm, mesh backing, I-web. Everything was solid enough for hardball, yet maleable enough to use right away and break in further as needed. Then, its add ons are both practical and striking - inner palm pad, adjustable velcro fastback, index finger hole, durable laces. Finally, its color scheme stands out and its price is totally reasonable. I sometimes even slip it on to use and help break in.

The other gloves were more expensive and had decent attributes, but none possessed the combination this glove presented for a kid at my son's age / ability levels. We returned the others and stuck with this one, and haven't looked back. He and I are totally satisfied both on the field during games, as well as during practice either at home together or with his friends. For the targeted demographic (young player that needs a first or second or stepped up option from his initial glove, but not yet a hardcore gold glove or pro model), there's nothing better. I anticipate this glove lasting until he's about 9 or 10, well into kids pitch leagues.

Great job by Louisville Slugger here - they hit the nail right on the head with this glove.

My son plays competitive AAU baseball. As a middle infielder we were looking for a smaller glove for better control and so he wasn't digging for the ball in his glove. We found that in this glove. Great product for the right price. GO POWER!

Son's first glove. Canvas outter material is very durable and will stand up to the way kids treat their gloves. Genuine leather pocket is soft, which makes it easy for kids to squeez the glove. Don't plan on needing another glove for a while.

Comments about Louisville Slugger Louisville Helix Youth 10 3/4" Baseball Glove:

This is by far the best youth glove I have ever found. Breaks in easy, sized perfectly for a young player, and will take them through to 10 or 11 years old easily. I wouldn't recommend for a T-ball player, though. Just a touch too big for that. But perfect size once they get out of T-Ball. You want a glove that fits a players hand that they can control well. And this is the one, hands down....
