A absoulute must my son wore for 5 years now he is 14 and I am trying to find something to protect him like this heartguard did. We heard the ball hit off that gaurd probably 15 differnt times over the years. Yes might be a little ackward in the beginning but it was put to him you either wear it or you don't play and after the first practice he never complained again just put it on and that was it. He actually told me this year it was to small and asked me to get him a knew one.

It is cumbersome and obtrusive. You have to wear it on the outside of your game jersey and clip it on the front of your baseball pants. Not practical. For the money, I should have gotten one of the heart guards that's built into a shirt. Your child puts the shirt on under his uniform and it is there...nice and comfortable.
