I'm here on baseballexpress actually looking for a Yankee helmet. I decided to look at gloves to see what they now cost. I own a Louisville slugger AP-1350 and a Mizuno's first basemitt that I bought back in 1985. My Mizuno first baseman mitt is the one that I heavily used though. Now I take it to Yankee games to catch foul balls or home runs at Yankee Stadium or Tropicana Field or at spring training here in Florida. When I got it, it was very easy to break in in a week. The ball hits the glove and it folds and won't pop out. My LS AP1350 takes a little more effort to hang onto the ball when it lands in the pocket. The Mizuno leather seems lighter. Neither one has cracked but then again I've taken excellent care of both gloves. The only bad thing is that the lacing that used to be tan on the Mizuno cracked its tan lacing to reveal black. That underlying lacing isn't cracked though. It also has the palm shock inside which protects your index finger from getting bruised when the ball is heavier and thrown harder in the rain. The ball will actually stings if someone has a great arm with wet ball and without the palm guard. I highly recommend this glove. I owned a Rawlings before buying these two gloves and wasn't satisfied as it lost its shape once it got wet. Even trying to break the Rawlings in it never had a great web and palm snap close like my Mizuno's first base mitt. The Louisville Slugger is just as good. The only difference that you really have to open the Louisville slugger wide with your palm to open it. Both have deep palm pockets. Rawlings may get mad at me but that's the truth about the experiences I had with both gloves. I also owned a Spalding Bobby Murcer model but it was stolen and that's why I purchased the Rawlings. The Spalding Murcer model was the same quality as Rawlings. I find they're average gloves but not as good as the Louisville slugger or as great as the Mizuno. I'm also not paid for any of these comments. Think of this Mizuno glove as something that will last and you can hand down to one of your kids when they play ball. Simply an A+ outstanding glove even though the one I own is in light tan and 25 years earlier.

Comments about Mizuno Franchise Series 12 1/2" Firstbase Mitt:
I'm a slow pitch catcher and this mitt works perfect! As soon as I got it, it felt like it was already broke in and fit like a "glove!" My 1st baseWoman tried it out at practice, she's buying one too!
Love it!

Comments about Mizuno Franchise Series 12 1/2" Firstbase Mitt:
This is a great mitt, my 9 yr old is 5'3" so it works for her big hands, good pocket which allows little breaking in.

Comments about Mizuno Franchise Series 12 1/2" Firstbase Mitt:
Perfect for my daughter who plays 10 and under select softball...she is big for her age so this glove is probably a bit big for 8 and under and some 10s...perfect for 12s on up through high school. Need to allow a little time to break in but very comfortable
