The area that contacts the bat (palm and fingers) and a bit across the top is leather and the rest is made from material that stretches, making them comfortable when gripping the bat.
One girl on her team who forgot her gloves and borrowed hers really like they way they felt on her hands.
I used the Aug 2010 guidelines for sizing, and found that small. The exchange for a size larger was easy. I just returned them with the included slip for a refund.
