We purchased this to go in a catchers glove to help prevent repeated injury to the hand. It is certainly not as "padded" as the photo appears. While it helps reduce some of the sting, it has not prevented the bruising and swelling of my players catching hand when catching 80 - 90 mph pitches.

I prefer not wearing anything on my hand with my glove. However, I do find it useful when I'm catching a hard thrower. It really takes the sting out if I catch a pitch outside the web. Fits well and is comfortable all game long.
